Te Wairoa Falls Trail
Te Wairoa's Stream and Waterfall
Scenic pathways link the Buried Village with the surrounding re-vegetated area. Enjoy walking through pristine native bush and learn about traditional uses for native plants and trees.
Native birds freely feed and play throughout the park. Catch a glimpse of wild rainbow trout that inhabit the Te Wairoa stream and be immersed in its natural beauty and calming presence.
Explore the exciting Te Wairoa Falls
Take the steps down to Te Wairoa Falls, and be thrilled as you stand in the spray of the water that plunges 30 metres over the Waitoharuru Cliffs. Although the steep steps can be a workout, our oldest visitor was 80 years old!
However, if you are not feeling up to it, you will not miss out! Take the flat track to the Valley Lookout, giving you a beautiful view of the volcanic valley below, through to stunning Lake Tarawera.
Make sure to bring some walking shoes.
Allow 20 minutes for the trail.
